“Your home should tell the story of who you are, and be a collection of what you love.”
-Nate Berkus
I love that quote and feel it truly expresses the definition of interior design and home decor. So for the New Year, are you looking to better infuse your character and things you love into your space? If the answer is yes, this 2017 Home and Color Trends Cheat Sheet assembled by Catch Decor will help. We scoured the web looking for the most talked about trends in home decor and colors predicted for 2017. From “cerused” wood to mixed metals to velvet, it’s going to be an exciting year and tough to decide your favorites. The cheat sheet features cool tips and is sectioned into two parts focused on home trends followed by color trends. We’ve included a few highlights from the cheat sheet below but you have to visit http://bit.ly/thetrends for the complete list.
VELVET
Velvet adds a soft dose of rich texture to any space and you can make a strong statement by incorporating bold colors such as emerald green and royal blue. Today’s velvet decor is designed for versatility to work in any home. Cool tip: Use it as an upholstery cover for doors and other small furniture pieces.
MIXED METALS
Metal finishes such as oil rubbed bronze, brass and gold have used for decades in the home but the old practice was not to mix and keep the same shine and sheen for cohesion but now you don’t have to think twice to try different combinations. Cool tip: Mix complementary cool and warm metals for even more character.
MATTE, SLATE AND BLACK APPLIANCES
Matte, slate and black stainless appliances offer a nice alternative to the heavily used stainless steel options as homeowners want more choices in finishes. The new colors add a modern look and hide smudges too. Cool tip: These appliances will work in any kitchen but pair with white cabinetry for an exciting contrast.
MARBLE
Marble when paired with metals and woods will make a distinguished look for 2017. Don’t leave out the marble wall covering and flooring. Cool tip: Quartz makes a nice alternative for kitchen counter tops.
RUSTIC
The rustic or “rescued” look will add charm and personality to a space as well as warmth for the cold winter months. Depending on the color scheme, the rustic look can make a space look dark and moody or light and tranquil. Cool tip: Don’t throw out old wooden furniture but instead re-purpose to get the worn look.
